I'm using Windows XP and IE, and viewing the videos still works today.
Sorry that doesn't help you much, Gary.
I am having trouble downloading the videos with VLC, though. I'm using VLC
0.8.6d in Windows XP, and I've tried two different methods, both failing.
First, I tried the Wizard "Transcode/Save to File" option, but it only saved
the audio track. Then I tried Open Network Stream with the "save stream"
option checked, and used the MMS field for the URL. That starting counting
towards one hour and twenty minutes, indicating it had the stream, but
finished leaving only a zero-byte file.
Gary, what are you doing to download using VLC?
Thanks!
- Seth

It looks like something changed yesterday -- the videos no longer
play for me in firefox in a GNU/Linux computer.... The video links
no longer work. I can view page source and find an url to open to
play the video, but I just see a "WM7 Activex control Not Found"
message where the video should be and get an "Unknown PlayerType"
popup.
But, so far, there is a similar (but a bit more convoluted) mss://
address extraction procedure that still seems to work. Maybe
someone knows an easier way to get the videos in a computer without
Internet Explorer? Here is one way to do it:
1. Open the video index page and view source. E.g. search for
2/21/2008 text and find this:
http://mtsmsite.unm.edu/mediasite/Viewer/?peid=988c1378-324b-480b-bb10-ab996
ee5ee52
2. Open that URL in a new window. I get the Activex message and the
popup and no video playing, but the URL has changed to this:
http://mtsmsite.unm.edu/mediasite/Viewer/Viewers/ViewerVideoOnly.aspx?mode=D
efault&peid=988c1378-324b-480b-bb10-ab996ee5ee52&pid=f8e6bad5-3f1c-4439-8e3d
-2378b89bcb1c&playerType=undefined
Note the peid and pid values:
peid=988c1378-324b-480b-bb10-ab996ee5ee52
pid=f8e6bad5-3f1c-4439-8e3d-2378b89bcb1c
3. Open this network stream in vlc:
mms://b82-2.unm.edu/f8e6bad5-3f1c-4439-8e3d-2378b89bcb1c.wmv?eventid=988c137
8-324b-480b-bb10-ab996ee5ee52&mediaid=f8e6bad5-3f1c-4439-8e3d-2378b89bcb1c
Generally, for now (replace $pid and $peid with the appropriate values:
mms://b82-2.unm.edu/$pid.wmv?eventid=$peid?mediaid=$pid
